Peñas de Aia / Aia peaks

There is no far from San Sebastian a paradise called Peñas de Aia (Aiako Harriak in Basque language). This place is the oldest mountain of the Basque country, the only one in Granite, formed 280 millions of years ago due to a geological intrusion, liquid rock that forms under Earth's surface.

It is necessary to wait still until 40 million of years ago to get the creation of the rest of the Basque mountains at the alpine orogeny, a huge collision between the continental plates.

Yesterday I felt very special and lucky to have the chance to give a Basque mountain guided tour in this beautiful place, a real special San Sebastian guided experience with these friends :-)
